Jo Johnstone, LADC
I am a LGBTQ+ mental health therapist and have been working in community mental health since 2019. I completed my Master’s Degree in Counseling and Psychological Services with a certificate in Addiction Studies in 2023 and currently hold active Drug and Alcohol Counselor (LADC) licensure and am working toward full Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) licensure.
I have experience working with folks ages 12+ of all genders who have experienced trauma, anxiety, depression, and severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI). I am most interested in working with individuals and couples impacted by trauma, insecure attachment, and persistent anxiety and members of the LGBTQ+ community who are seeking a safe space to process trauma and/or explore identity.
Other specialties and concerns I offer services for are addiction, ADHD, attachment and codependency, bipolar and mood disorders, communication skills, depression, domestic and/or sexual violence, grief and loss, psychosis, self-harm, spirituality and spiritual trauma, and suicidal ideation.
I am passionate about creating a therapeutic space that feels safe and where you feel heard. I use a person-centered, humanistic approach to make sure our therapy goals best fit your individual needs. I am happy to work with you to navigate any barriers to care, including insurance coordination and flexible scheduling so that you can focus on what really matters: yourself and your therapy goals.
