Hanna Schreiner, MS, LADC
I am a Mental Health Practitioner with a Master’s degree in Integrated Behavioral Health at the University of Minnesota with a specialization in infant and early childhood mental health. I am currently working towards my Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) licensure and am a Licensed Drug & Alcohol Counselor (LADC). I enjoy working with individuals between the ages of 5 and 25 years old, as well as with families, as I feel working with a whole system creates a bigger impact. I have been certified in Diagnostic Assessment for Young Children (DC): 0-5, and Applied Behavioral analysis (ABA). I am also a Licensed Drug and Alcohol Counselor which helps provide an outlook on how substances can impact individuals and family systems within recovery.
I have a passion for working with individuals across the lifespan, and navigating through various life transitions that may be causing distress in one’s life. Working with different populations has helped me recognize that many factors play a part in the development of mental health concerns. When contextual factors, family dynamics, attachment styles, and traumatic events are addressed, it allows for a holistic healing opportunity.
Children and Young Adolescents
My work with children includes exploration of emotions, building emotional awareness, and providing and utilizing skills that allow for emotional and personal autonomy. Age appropriate play therapy techniques are used to achieve individualized goals. Children learn through play, stories, and observing modeled behavior. Within exploring their world, they are able to identify strengths and areas of growth to establish starting points for therapy. My goal is to provide them with skills to navigate through new experiences and increase their environmental support. Incorporating caregivers into therapy builds on the foundational support already established to help their child succeed across differing environments. Within my work with children and young adolescents, I use strategies including: Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Attachment therapy, and Play therapy.
Adolescents and Young Adults
While working with teenagers and young adults, I like to help individuals explore being independent, develop healthy relationships, and create a healthy identity of who they are in and outside of their family and friends. My goal is to help individuals understand the roots of where their feelings, beliefs, and behaviors stem from and offer them new perspectives and skills to create secure attachments with themselves and others. Challenging old beliefs that have been taught or created throughout one’s life allows individuals to create a new story that they want to achieve. Forming an understanding of where behaviors were learned, and how they are used to protect oneself, is fundamental in healing. Within my work with adolescents and young adults, I use strategies including: Narrative Therapy, Attachment Therapy, and Structural Family Therapy.
My clinical interests include: Anxiety Disorders, Depressive Disorders, Mood Disorders, Personality Disorders, Attention & Hyperactivity Disorders, and Substance Use Disorders.
