Abbie Nelson, MHP
I am currently pursuing my Master’s in Counseling Psychology at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota to deepen my counseling skills and provide meaningful support to children, adolescents, and young adults. I am passionate about helping clients overcome anxiety, build self-esteem, and navigate life’s challenges.
My approach to therapy is client-centered, collaborative, and compassionate. I believe in meeting clients where they are at and creating a safe, nonjudgmental environment to explore their thoughts, feelings, and goals. I draw from a blend of approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness practices, and solution-focused techniques. I value building a strong therapeutic relationship for meaningful progress, empowering clients to feel heard and supported as they work toward their goals. My goal is to adapt therapy to each client’s unique needs, working together to identify barriers and discover strategies for meaningful change.
My areas of interest include anxiety, depression, self-esteem challenges, and life transitions. I especially enjoy working with children and adolescents as they navigate the challenges of growing up and develop skills to thrive in their environments. I am committed to helping my clients build confidence and a stronger sense of self.
Outside of my work, I enjoy hiking, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
